About Beth McKinney
Beth McKinney is a seasoned nutrition counselor who trained at Cornell University and United Health Services, a teaching hospital in Binghamton, NY. She is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, a Certified Health Education Specialist, and has a master’s degree in health education. As the director of the Cornell University Wellness Program and a member of their team for over 22 years, Beth has provided nutrition counseling to thousands of individuals.
Her live lectures and webinar sessions are popular. Attendees typically walk away with new thinking that leads to new behaviors. Beth helps you translate complex and controversial topics into understandable chunks. She encourages you to make your own educated decisions about what to eat.
Beth specializes in behavior change. Since 1993, she has been working with nutrition professionals as well as students to improve their skills in nutrition counseling and behavior change. She's helped registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) learn the skills that make them better counselors. For the past six years she has taught an undergraduate nutrition counseling course to Cornell University dietetics students.
Beth McKinney also developed and currently instructs an eCornell certificate for nutrition professionals. Counseling Skills for Nutrition Professionals teaches other registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) techniques to elicit best thinking for more effect client behavior change.
If you ask, Beth would say "I get fired up when I see people reaching their goals, feeling satisfied, and feeling fully alive. If I can play a role that moves someone along their personal path, it makes my work worthwhile." That includes individuals, professionals, and groups.
Beth loves living in Ithaca, New York with her husband, Tim. She has two grown children and many hobbies. In addition to gourmet cooking and baking, Beth loves knitting and more recently, weaving.
